Shopping trip

Today I went shopping with my bonus mom aka my mother-in-law. We don't like the whole in-law thing. It sounds so impersonal and I can't call her "mom" since I already have a mom. So my hubby's mom is my bonus mom.

Anywho...back to the shopping trip. I needed to get a gift for the coworker's baby shower that I told you about an Carter's was having a sale..Everything was 50% off plus we had a coupon for 20% off of $40 or more. My bonus mom was buying stuff for my nephew and I got some cute stuff for the baby shower so together it came to $42 which was then reduced to $35. I like saving money.

This is what I got
ignore the horrible picture quality of my itouch
my plans are to get a few more bottoms to have complete outfits and to make matching headbands. then I will roll up each outfit and wrap them in a headband.

Welcome

This is my second attempt at a blog. The first time I failed miserably. I have a problem...my perfectionism gets in the way. I felt that I needed to have a project complete before I could write a post. I just have soooo many projects going on at one time and I never really got around to posting them.

So, here goes attempt #2, but this time I intend to post almost every day even if I have not completed a project. I am no Martha Stewart, but I sure wish I was just a little bit like her.

This is what I have going on right now:
  1. I am part of the planning committee for VBC (Vacation Bible Camp) at church. This year's theme is pandas. I am in charge of decorating, not only for the actual event which is July 5-9, but also for the volunteer sign ups which will take place on April 10th. So far I have 4 green paper lanterns that I got at the dollar store and  4 large cardboard tubes that once held fabric (I talked the nice lady at Joann fabrics into giving me the slightly damaged ones that they don't reuse). These will become bamboo trees after I paint them. I  plan on making a sign for the volunteer sign ups on a poster board that looks like it is spelled out in bamboo. Depending how ambitious I am, I will also be making panda cupcakes for the volunteer sign ups.
  2. April 10th is also a co-worker's baby shower. I work in a doctor's office with one male doctor and 10 other women. One of the girls is pregnant with her first child (a girl) and does not have much family besides her husband. So we are throwing her a baby shower. It is at another co-worker's house and the doctor's wife is having it catered. But one of my favorite things to do (if you haven't figured this out yet) is make cupcakes. I like to make cakes to and lots of other stuff but cupcakes are my favorite. Sooo I will be making rattle cupcakes. I just need to find some lollipop sticks.
  3. The Hubby turns 30 this year!!!! Yay! Since he won't be reading this, because he thinks its silly to write what he calls a "mom" blog when I am not a mother or even expecting (yet!), I will tell you my plans or at least my thoughts. SURPRISE Party!!!! but there's issues. His birthday is July 5th.(a Tuesday) His parents always go away on business that weekend so they have always celebrated his birthday the weekend before or after. This makes him feel like it's not really his birthday. My family (I have lots of family and we are very close) has a tendency to lump parties together (i.e. my college grade party was also my cousin's 8th birthday party, one cousin's baby shower was also her sister's 30th birthday party, etc) My Hubby hates this. He feels it takes away from celebrate for each person. with that in mind, I am thinking July 4th is out for possible dates. My thoughts were to throw the surprise bbq the last weekend in June. Then on his actual birthday I will make a birthday dinner with cake for maybe our parents and his brother.
Do you have any other ideas for me? I would love the feed back and any help you can offer.
